While you were sleeping

Friday we got to meet Micah for the first time.  We left a little after 1:30 as he was taking his afternoon nap.  The picture above is how we left him.  It was so hard to walk out that door and leave him behind.  Tomorrow (Monday) we get to spend the day with our little boy.  I am so excited to spend time with him.  We really can't wait to pick him up and love on him.  We will get him around 10:00am and will have to bring him back about 5:00pm.  Monday evening will be the last night without him.  On Tuesday we will pick him up around 1:00pm and then that is it.  He will be ours forever.  I am sure we will have some tough moments tomorrow.  Micah doesn't really know who we are so I don't really know what tomorrow will hold.  Please join us in praying he begins to understand that Ashley and I care so much for him.  I am so pumped to spend time with my little boy.  I need to go get some rest now so I am ready for tomorrow - as if I could actually be ready for such a thing.  Oh well.

I was tired when I read this, and a little cranky from not enough sleep. I burst into tears when I read your post. Have a wonderful life with your new young'un. What a precious time! Congratulations.

I'm not sure if you know who I am, but I went to high school with Ashley, Courtney, and Brittany...I was at your wedding too! Ashley referred me to your site so I've been following your trip each day! I just read about how you will be getting Micah in just two days! I'm sure that must be so exciting and scary at the same time. I wanted to leave you with a bit of assurance. My husband is in the military and during Julia's first year was gone for 5-6 months of it. It was really difficult for her as she really hardly knew him. For many months she would only come to me and would run away from him when he came home from work. We were really worried so we sought advice from a counselor on base. He assured us that kids at that age will attach themselves to the person they know the best in the room. It's nothing personal...that's just what they do. Whenever I wasn't there she was fine with Andy...as soon as Mommy got home she was glued to my hip again. I tell this story so that you can have some reassurance with your trip with Micah tomorrow. He may be fussy when you go to leave with him, which is totally normal. Once you get out of the orphanage though he will probably do great with you guys and adjust very well to you once he's been with you for a few days! I will definitely be keeping you all in my prayers over the next several months as I'm sure all the changes for Micah and you guys are going to add a lot of stress! You guys will be awesome with him though...just keep reaching out to him through playing and he'll loosen up in no time! Can't wait to see more video of the little guy and hear about your adventures tomorrow!
